Accessible and sensory-friendly things to do with kids in Newcastle

Newcastle is a beach city that has done the work on access: the council lends beach wheelchairs at the main patrolled beaches and lays matting in summer, the ocean baths have ramped entries, and the Bathers Way coastal path is sealed for most of its length, so a child in a chair can do the headland between Nobbys and Merewether.

The museum and the library run quiet sessions, the foreshore parks have accessible toilets, and the big regional playground at Speers Point was built as an inclusive space.

Further out, the wildlife park and the aviation museum publish their access on their own pages, and a few bushland boardwalks are rated accessible by the park service.

Everything here comes from the venue's or council's own page; read the fact line under each place and check the linked access page before you go.
