The beach at the Maroochy River mouth (beach accesses 140 to 143) has a newer holiday patrol service. Council says it is patrolled during the Queensland school holidays in September, at Christmas and at Easter, from 7.30am to 5pm. Maroochydore Beach next door is patrolled all year round. Cotton Tree Park on the river bank nearby has two playgrounds, barbecues, picnic shelters, public toilets, a beach shower and parking. Swim between the red and yellow flags and check beach conditions before swimming. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap): The Boatshed (restaurant, about 20 m), Sunshine Social (cafe, about 190 m), Cotton Tree News (newsagent, about 240 m) and Boulangerie Patisserie (bakery, about 270 m).
