Council-funded lifeguards patrol Alexandra Headland all year, and Alex Surf Life Saving Club volunteers add weekend and public holiday patrols from 7am to 5pm (6pm over Christmas) between September and May. Buhk Family Park and Wilkes Family Park have plenty of facilities for a family day out, and restaurants, cafes and takeaway food outlets are nearby. Accessible beach matting is available on weekends during the volunteer patrol season. A walking track runs up over the headland. Swim between the red and yellow flags and check beach conditions before swimming.
