Council-funded lifeguards patrol Kings Beach all year, and Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club volunteers add weekend and public holiday patrols from 7am to 5pm (6pm over Christmas) between the September school holidays and early May. Council says it is great for families, with large areas of green space and playgrounds, and that it is popular for learning to surf because it faces south-east and waves are reduced by Moreton Island. The Kings Beach Ocean Pool, a 25 m sea water pool with a children's wading area, is at the northern end of the sand. Accessible beach matting is out on weekends during the volunteer patrol season. The foreshore is a dog-free zone. Swim between the red and yellow flags and check beach conditions before swimming.
