Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club

Last updated October 2026

Metropolitan Caloundra Surf Life Saving Club (Mets) patrols Kings Beach, Caloundra, and has run Nippers since 1968. The program runs from mid-September to March from the lifesaving facility and lifeguard tower in the middle of Kings Beach, with Sunday morning sessions where children develop practical surf skills and surf lifesaving knowledge towards a competency award at each age level. Nipper members are aged 5-13; new nippers must be at least 6 by 30 September, or 5 if they have an older sibling in the program or a parent who is an active patrolling member. Children complete a pool swim evaluation and a run-surf swim-run, and an adult or carer joins as part of the family membership. Registrations generally run in August and September; new family registrations are closed for the current season.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
