Garie Beach

Last updated October 2026

Garie Beach is a surf beach in the southern precinct of Royal National Park, reached by Garie Road, used for swimming, surfing, picnics, fishing and whale watching. NPWS says it is only patrolled on weekends and public holidays during surf season, by lifeguards between 9am and 5pm in summer, and that it can have strong rips and currents. The Garie Surf Life Saving Club advises supervising children closely and swimming between the red and yellow flags when lifesavers are on patrol. Facilities are flush toilets, picnic tables and a car park that is locked overnight and can fill on weekends. There is no food or drink service, so bring water. Park entry fees apply ($12 per vehicle per day).

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
