Giles Baths

Last updated October 2026

Giles Baths is a natural rock pool, known as the "Bogey hole", at the foot of the northern headland of Coogee Beach. Randwick Council calls it a popular swimming hole with young people and a fun place to explore from Coogee Beach. Reach it from the Coastal Walkway in Dunningham Reserve near the Bali Memorial, or along the rocky foreshore north of the beach. Council warns the baths can be rough in strong surf, and lifeguards often give first aid for bumps, cuts and bruises, so it suits calm days and confident swimmers. Dogs, fires and glass are prohibited. Within a short walk are Coogee Pavilion (restaurant, about 270 m), Andersen's of Denmark (ice cream, about 300 m), JJ's chicks & burgers (takeaway, about 310 m) and Coogee Yerros Cafe (about 360 m), plus several more restaurants and takeaways.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
