Fong-On Bay camping area, Lake Tinaroo

Last updated October 2026

Fong-On Bay is a large, grassy Queensland Parks camping area on the shore of Lake Tinaroo in Danbulla State Forest, about 70 km (1.5 hours) from Cairns on the Atherton Tableland. Most sites along the peninsula have water access and views, and you can swim, canoe, fish and waterski from your camp. It is an open area without marked sites, suitable for tents beside the car, camper trailers and large groups. Facilities are flush toilets, a shower room (bring your own shower), taps and fire rings; bring drinking water. Generators are allowed 8am to 7pm. The access road is unsealed and council signs say it is unsuitable for caravans. Camping permits must be booked online: $7.75 per person or $31 per family per night, and children under 5 camp free.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
