Frankland Islands Reef Cruises

Last updated October 2026

Frankland Islands Reef Cruises takes up to 100 people a day to Normanby Island in Frankland Group National Park, an uninhabited Great Barrier Reef island. The day starts with a calm rainforest river cruise down the Mulgrave River from the company's jetty at Ross Road, Deeral (about 45 minutes south of Cairns; free coach transfers from Cairns CBD on the all-inclusive tour), then a short open-water crossing. Children can swim and snorkel straight from the beach with flotation devices; turtles and clownfish live on the fringing reef. Kids' activities include a treasure hunt and the Snorkel Stars course. Lycra stinger suits are provided free and must be worn from November to April. All-inclusive day tour (with lunch): adults $260, children 4-16 $160, infants 3 and under free, family of 2 adults and 2 children $680. The boat leaves Deeral at 8:30am and returns between 3:30pm and 4pm.
