Gallo Dairyland

Last updated October 2026

Atherton Tablelands dairy farm where Gallo cheese and hand-made chocolates are made on site, with a licensed cafe.

Gallo Dairyland is a family-run dairy farm on the Atherton Tablelands, about an hour's drive from Cairns and a short drive from Yungaburra, Atherton or Malanda. The Gallo family opened it in 2007 on the dairy farm Giovanni Gallo bought in 1937. Gourmet cheese and hand-crafted chocolates are made on site, and the cheese range has 16 flavours, including some lactose-free cheeses. Visitors can buy cheese and chocolate and eat at BB's Cafe, a licensed, air-conditioned cafe inside Gallo Dairyland that seats around 100 and serves coffee, meals and cheese platters. The cafe recommends calling ahead to book, especially for groups and families, on (07) 4091 2520. As of October 2026 the website lists opening hours of Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm. There is no entry price listed on the website. The website does not describe animal encounters or tours for children, so families should treat it as a cheese and chocolate stop with a cafe.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
