Last updated October 2026

Rainforest waterfall 75km south of Cairns with a short 1.2km walk, viewing decks, a swimming pool area and picnic facilities.

Josephine Falls is a waterfall and picnic area in Wooroonooran National Park, 75km south of Cairns. Turn off the Bruce Highway 2km south of Mirriwinni and drive 8km. A 1.2km return walking track (about 30 minutes, Grade 2) leads through rainforest to viewing decks over the creek and falls, and stairs lead down to the bottom pool for swimming. The day-use area has picnic tables, a shelter shed, a coin-operated barbecue and toilets, and the toilets, picnic shelter and top viewing platform are wheelchair accessible. Queensland Parks warns that flash flooding can happen at any time of year, rocks are very slippery, and children must be closely supervised; the top of the falls is a restricted area. The park is open 24 hours. As of October 2026, maintenance works from 2 November 2026 to about 1 February 2027 may partly close the track, toilets and swimming area, with a full swimming area closure of about two weeks; the barbecue is out of service until 31 January 2027.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
