Etty Bay

Last updated October 2026

Etty Bay is a beach on the Cassowary Coast, south of Cairns. Surf Life Saving Queensland patrols Etty Bay during the Christmas and Easter school holidays. The council's advice: stinger season runs November to May, stinger nets protect against box jellyfish but don't stop smaller jellyfish like bluebottles and Irukandji, so always swim inside the net, wear protective clothing and avoid swimming when the beach is closed. This is crocodile country: the Queensland Government says estuarine crocodiles can be found in any waterways and the sea in this area. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap): Etty Bay Kitchen (restaurant, about 50 m).
