Foaming Fury runs white water rafting and river tubing trips from Cairns, with pick-ups from Cairns, the Northern Beaches and Port Douglas, or you can drive yourself. For families, the Half Day Family Rafting trip on the lower Barron River and Lake Placid in Barron Gorge National Park is designed for children aged 6 to 11: grade 1-2 rapids, eight-person rafts plus two-person sports rafts with an adult and child, and a high guide-to-passenger ratio (minimum 8 people to run). Cairns pick-up is about 2pm, back 5.30pm. Half Day River Tubing on the Mulgrave River (minimum age 5) floats over small rapids on twin-chamber tubes, with morning and afternoon trips. The standard Barron River half day raft (up to grade 3 rapids) is for ages 12 and over. Prices with Cairns pick-up, including the rafting levy: family rafting $159 adult and $145 child; tubing $119 adult and $95 child (5-11). All participants sign a release form.
