Clifton Beach
Last updated October 2026
Clifton Beach is a Cairns Regional Council beach on Arlington Esplanade. The council says it has a stinger net enclosure and is patrolled by Surf Lifesavers between 9am and 5pm during the marine stinger season (November to May). The shady foreshore has benches and tables, and there is a small children's playground at the northern end. Stinger season generally runs November to May and the nets are not 100 percent stinger proof; this is crocodile country, so swim only inside the net when lifesavers are on duty.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
