Council rainforest reserve in Maleny with an interactive Discovery Centre, boardwalk, walking tracks and a playground for under-12s.

Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve is a 55-hectare subtropical rainforest run by Sunshine Coast Council, looking out over the Glasshouse Mountains. The Rainforest Discovery Centre has multi-sensory, interactive displays for all ages, volunteers to chat with, a viewing deck and the 150 m all-ability Glider Gallery boardwalk. Outside there is an open-space park with barbecues and picnic shelters, a playground for children 12 and under, and rainforest walking tracks. The Discovery Centre is open 9.30am to 3.30pm daily with entry by gold coin donation; the rainforest walks are open 7am to 6pm. Closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Anzac Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Groups must book ahead.
