Point Cartwright Reserve

Last updated October 2026

Free headland reserve at Buddina with a lighthouse, ocean viewing platform, grassy picnic areas and toilets.

Point Cartwright Reserve is a 5-hectare Sunshine Coast Council reserve of open space and natural bushland on a rocky headland at Buddina, overlooking the mouth of the Mooloolah River. An active lighthouse stands at the eastern tip. From the free car park on Pacific Boulevard, a pedestrian path of about 230 metres leads up to the lighthouse and large open grass areas used for picnics and gatherings. The viewing platform at the car park (beach access point 199) is a popular place to check the surf and watch the ocean. There are public toilets at the car park and about 250 metres west of the water tower, and a shelter. Dogs are allowed off leash at times and places shown on signs. The headland has a range of coastal plants suited to wind and salt. Entry is free and the council lists no opening hours, as of October 2026.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 17 October 2026.
