Kawana Waters Surf Life Saving Club at Buddina runs Nippers for kids aged 5 to 13. The program runs every Sunday from October to March, with a short break over Christmas, from 8am to 10am (9.30am finish for Under 6 and Under 7 green caps). Children learn sun and surf safety, beach sprints and board paddling, plus lifesaving skills such as CPR and water rescues; midweek surf swimming and board sessions with the club's surf coach are offered for those who compete or want to improve. Every nipper must pass a pool proficiency (U8-U13 also a beach swim proficiency), and it is not a drop-and-go program: parents need a Blue Card and help on a rotating roster. Families join through the SLS Hub. For 2026/27, registration is closed for U6 and U7; older nippers or the waitlist go through the surf office by email.
