Coogee Surf Life Saving Club (Coogee Minnows Nippers)

Surf life saving club at Coogee Beach. Its junior program, Coogee Minnows, is for children aged 5 to 13 and has run continuously for more than 50 years. Minnows learn sun and surf safety, beach sprints and board paddling through to lifesaving skills, CPR and water rescues, and can compete in beach and surf carnivals. The season for Under 7 to Under 14 runs from late October to late March, with a six-week break over Christmas; Under 6 runs from late January to late March. New members join through an expression of interest each season, and places in Under 7 to Under 9 are limited. Swim proficiency evaluations are required, and parents of Under 6 and Under 7 children are asked to volunteer on the beach.
