Yorkeys Knob beach runs along Sims Esplanade in Yorkeys Knob. Cairns Regional Council says it is patrolled by Surf Lifesavers between 9am and 5pm year round and has a stinger net enclosure during the marine stinger season (November to May). The foreshore has a sealed walking/cycling path, a children's playground, bench seats, a covered picnic area and free electric barbecues, and the council lists it as wheelchair accessible. Stinger season generally runs November to May and the nets are not 100 percent stinger proof; this is crocodile country, so swim only when lifesavers are on duty, and inside the net in stinger season.
