Southport Broadwater Parklands swimming enclosure

The Southport swimming enclosure on the Broadwater is a short stroll south of the Rockpools wet play area at Broadwater Parklands, opposite Australia Fair, and has a permanent jumping pontoon about 50 metres from shore. Council advises weaker swimmers to use a floating aid or not swim to the pontoon, and not to run or dive off it. Barbecues, playgrounds and parking are available in the parklands. The City of Gold Coast says its swimming enclosures are popular with children and people who prefer calm natural swimming water, but they are not patrolled by lifeguards: supervise children at all times, keep clear of the nets, and take care as depth varies with the tide. Dogs and fishing are not permitted in the enclosure. Avoid swimming for 3 days after heavy rain. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap) is The Fish Shak (about 250 m), plus several other places to eat.
