Surf school in Torquay running 2-hour learn-to-surf lessons for ages 6 and up, from $85 per person, plus kayaking and mountain biking.

Southern Exposure is a family-run surf school and outdoor adventure business based at 31 Baines Crescent, Torquay, that also runs mountain biking, kayaking, Bells Beach tours, school camps and the Run Forrest trail run. Its 2-hour public Learn to Surf lessons include a soft-top board, wetsuit and rash vest, a safety briefing, land practice and coached time in the water, with one instructor for up to eight students. Lessons run at Torquay Surf Beach, Anglesea Main Beach, Lorne Beach or Ocean Grove Beach depending on conditions. Children can surf from age 6, and the school recommends a parent or guardian in the water for anyone under 8. As of October 2026, public lessons are from $85 per person, private lessons from $220, and 3-day surf camps in January from $230 per person. Lessons are booked online, and the site says summer sessions fill quickly.
