Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club

Ocean Grove Surf Life Saving Club has served Ocean Grove since 1948 and is on the town's main beach. Its Nippers program is for children aged 7 to 13 and has three streams: Core Sunday Nippers (Sunday mornings 9am to 10.30am from 11 October to February), Surf Sport (Tuesday and Friday evenings from 9 October to March, for children who want to compete at carnivals) and a five-session Summer Intensive from 27 to 31 December. Children learn surf awareness, safety and surf skills through beach and water activities and games. Starfish Nippers, an all-abilities program for young people aged 8 to 18, runs within the Summer Intensive. To join, families take out a Family Membership, register for a stream, and each Nipper completes a Preliminary Skills Evaluation before water activities.
