Newport Beach is 1.3 km long, running from Newport Head in a gentle arc to Little Reef. Newport Rockpool (50 m) is at the southern end, and a beach wheelchair can be booked here. Council lifeguards patrol from the last weekend of September until the last weekend of April, every day 9am-5pm and longer in the summer peak, and the surf club patrols through the summer months; swim between the flags. A playground with large grass areas and electric BBQs is south of the surf club, and parking is free with a council permit or pay-and-display. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap) are Newport Bowan Bakery-Cafe (cafe, about 170 m), cocoa bar (cafe, about 240 m), Coles (supermarket, about 180 m) and Newport Pharmacy (pharmacy, about 350 m), plus several restaurants.
