Nielsen Park (Shark Beach)
Last updated October 2026
Nielsen Park in Sydney Harbour National Park has a swimming enclosure at Shark Beach, three large sheltered picnic areas, expansive lawns and The Nielsen cafe. It is managed by NSW National Parks, not Woollahra Council. NPWS suggests a swim at Shark Beach, a picnic under the fig trees and a coffee or ice cream at the cafe while the kids build sandcastles. Facilities include public toilets, showers, a kiosk, picnic tables and parking in Greycliffe Avenue (including 4 accessible spots). Dogs are prohibited at all times. Check the Beachwatch water quality forecast before swimming. The park is open sunrise to sunset. Within a short walk is The Nielsen (about 60 m).
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
