Newcastle Surf School, run by Dan Frodsham, says it is the longest-running surf school in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie area. Lessons run all year at Nobbys Beach, Blacksmiths Beach and Caves Beach for all ages and levels, with soft boards, wetsuits and sun shirts supplied. School holiday group lessons cost $90 for a 90-minute lesson, and a four-lesson package is available; after four lessons, regular surfers pay $25 a lesson. Ocean Active Kids is an after-school program teaching ocean safety and surfing. Book online or call, as of October 2026.
