Port Stephens Surf School runs Surfing Australia accredited surf lessons year-round at One Mile Beach, Port Stephens, under an hour from Newcastle. Group lessons last 1.5 hours, suit ages 5 and up, and take up to 16 people. The Kids School Holiday Surf Program for ages 5 to 12 runs 1-hour lessons over 3 or 5 days. Term programs for ages 5 to 12 run weekly for 4, 6 or 8 weeks; in Term 4 2026 they start 13 October on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons and Saturday or Sunday mornings. Private 1-hour lessons cost $190 for one person, as of October 2026. Group lesson prices are not published on the website. Softboard, wetsuit, rash shirt and sunscreen are included, so bring swimmers and a towel. Meet at the surf school van out the front of the restaurant 10 to 15 minutes early, and book online.
