Kingston Beach

Kingston Beach, 15 km south of Hobart, is patrolled by Kingston Beach Surf Life Saving Club from the first Saturday in December to the last weekend in March; swim between the red and yellow flags in the middle of the beach, in front of the public toilets. The club describes it as a relatively safe beach with usually low wave to calm conditions; stay clear of boats in the southern corner and watch for deep water. There are toilets, showers by the playground, drinking taps, a picnic area and formal parking. Beach matting is rolled out on weekends and public holidays from December to March, about 12pm-4.30pm, and two beach wheelchairs can be borrowed via the club. Nippers (ages 5-13) runs Sunday mornings. The north end has a Poor water quality rating.
