Bellerive Beach

Last updated October 2026

Bellerive Beach is a Derwent River beach in Clarence that the council describes as having calm shores. It is usually sheltered from southern ocean swells by the South Arm Peninsula and Bruny Island, but can be exposed to swells during stormy weather. The council page lists no lifesaver patrol. Next door, Bellerive Beach Park has an all-abilities playground with a sand play area and water play area, BBQs, a sheltered picnic area, toilets, cold water showers and a car park. A beach mat gives wheelchair users, prams and beach trolleys access to the sand, and there are accessible unisex toilets. Dogs are not permitted at the western end all year; at the eastern end they are off lead except 10am-6pm from 1 December to 1 March. Avoid swimming for two days after heavy rain and near stormwater pipes. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap): Fish Bar (cafe, about 30 m).
