Coolangatta Beach

Last updated October 2026

Coolangatta Beach faces north, which the City of Gold Coast says makes it more sheltered from the predominant east to southeast swells; council describes clear water for swimming. Lifeguards patrol Tower 3 on Marine Parade, near Coolangatta Surf Club, between 8am and 5pm every day all year round. Swim between the red and yellow flags. The beach is surrounded by parklands with toilets, barbecues, tables, shade structures and beach showers, and the Oceanway runs along the beach. There is limited parking at the surf club and on-street parking nearby. Coolangatta Beach is a dog prohibited area. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap) are Baskin-Robbins (about 180 m), Los Vegos (about 330 m), Woolworths, a supermarket (about 220 m) and Coolangatta Pie Shop, a bakery (about 300 m), plus several other places to eat.
