You Yangs Regional Park (Flinders Peak)
Last updated October 2026
Granite peaks rising from the plains about an hour from Melbourne, near Geelong. The walk to Flinders Peak, the highest point, starts at the Turntable car park (barbecues, toilets, picnic tables) and climbs 450 steps and 200 metres to a lookout with views of Geelong and Melbourne; Parks Victoria calls it challenging but family friendly, and dogs on a lead are allowed. The park has nine picnic areas among the boulders, over 50 km of mountain bike trails for beginners to experts, and The Great Circle Drive for a scenic loop by car. Open 7am-8pm daily. Summer weekends are busy, so arrive early to avoid the heat and crowds.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
