Alfred Nicholas Memorial Garden

Last updated October 2026

A grand 1920s-30s hillside garden in the Dandenong Ranges, managed by Parks Victoria, with water features, exotic trees, rock walls and terraces. Sloping paved paths lead down to an ornamental lake with a boathouse, bridges and islands; in autumn the water is covered in yellow ginkgo leaves and maples turn red and orange, and spring brings rhododendrons, azaleas and flowering cherries. Sealed paths at the top are accessible by wheelchair with assistance, but other sections have unsealed steep paths. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Open daylight hours daily, except on Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger days. It is just over the road from Sherbrooke Picnic Ground and the walk to Sherbrooke Falls. Nearby: Piggery cafe (260 m).

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
