Indoor museum of tanks and artillery in Smithfield, Cairns, with a kids corner and playground; entry $22 child, $36 adult.

The Australian Armour & Artillery Museum at 2 Skyrail Drive, Smithfield, displays more than 240 armoured vehicles and artillery pieces with a focus on World War II. All exhibits are indoors. Visitors can touch and look inside the tanks but cannot climb in, except on supervised Open Hatch Days. A Kids Corner lets children dress as soldiers, try on army gear and use a battle re-creation table, and there is an indoor kids' playground. As of October 2026 the museum is open 9:30am to 4:30pm, seven days, closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Good Friday and New Year's Day. Entry is $36 adults, $22 children 5-16 and $88 for a family of two adults and two children. Bookings are not essential. Rides in an armoured personnel carrier run daily at 11am and 2pm at extra cost. Parking is free and there is a wheelchair ramp.
