South Curl Curl SLSC runs Nippers for children aged 5-14 every Sunday morning on South Curl Curl beach, teaching surf awareness and safety in a fun outdoor setting. Sessions run 8.45am to 9.45am for Under 6, 7 and 8, and 10am to 11am for Under 9-13. A parent or guardian must be on the beach at all times, and parents help run the program as age managers, water safety and other volunteers. The club also runs Rippers, a modified Nipper program for children and youth aged 5 to 15 with additional needs, in partnership with the Cerebral Palsy Alliance, with beach races, flags, ocean wades and a progressive introduction to nipper surfboards.
