South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club

Last updated October 2026

Volunteer surf life saving club at the south end of Maroubra Beach, established in 1959. Its Nipper program, running since 1966, is for children aged 5 to 13. Under 6 and Under 7 focus on fun, games and basic surf safety on the beach; Under 8 to Under 14 follow a structured program of beach and water skills plus resuscitation, first aid and rescue skills. Activities include wading, board paddling (from Under 9), swimming, beach sprints and beach flags, and sessions last about 1-1.5 hours on Sunday mornings in two time slots (around 8am and 9.30am). The 2026-27 season starts on 18 October 2026 (Under 6 on 17 October). A parent must stay on the beach, and all Nippers complete an annual proficiency evaluation. Under 6 to Under 8 groups are full for 2026-27.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
