Point Cook Coastal Park
Last updated October 2026
A coastal park on Port Phillip in Melbourne's west, beside the internationally significant Cheetham Wetlands. The beach picnic area has a children's play area, free gas barbecues, shade, toilets and easy access to the beach, and the flat grass makes it easy with a pram. Kilometres of mowed grass tracks suit a gentle stroll, and the Tower Walk follows a wheelchair-accessible gravel track 1.5 km each way through native grassland to a tower with 360-degree views over the wetlands. Shorebirds feed on the mudflats at low tide from September to April, and you may see vintage aeroplanes flying from the Point Cook RAAF Base. Open 8am-5pm April to September and 8am-7pm October to March; the Tower car park gates lock two hours before closing.
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
