North Stradbroke Island Surf School runs surfing lessons at Point Lookout on North Stradbroke Island for ages 5 to 70. Group lessons run for 1.5 hours for 2 to 16 people and cover warm-up, paddling, catching waves and standing up, plus surf safety rules. Private lessons run for one hour for one to three people. Surfboards, wetsuits, rash shirts and sunscreen are supplied; bring swimwear, a towel, sunscreen and drinking water. Coaches are accredited with Surfing Australia. As of October 2026, group lessons cost $60 per person in a group of four, $70 in a group of three and $90 in a group of two, and private lessons cost $120 for one person. Cylinder Beach is the usual venue, but the location is confirmed the night before depending on conditions, and lessons can be cancelled in unsafe weather. Book online; most people pay cash on the day.
