Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club

Last updated October 2026

Bribie Island Surf Life Saving Club has patrolled Woorim Beach on the eastern side of Bribie Island since 1923. Its Nippers program teaches beach safety and lifesaving skills to junior lifesavers aged 5 to 13 (age as of 30 September). The 2026/27 season runs on Sundays from 20 September 2026 to March 2027: nippers arrive by 8am on the grass behind the surf club and sessions end around 11am. Under 6s and 7s (green caps) focus on beach fun and basic surf awareness; Under 8s to 14s do wades, board paddling, swimming, beach sprints and beach flags and may enter local carnivals. All nippers complete a pool swim (U8+ also a beach evaluation), parents must stay with their children, and one parent joins as an associate member with a Blue Card. Fees include a pink hi-vis vest and insurance; Play On! vouchers are accepted.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
