Mentone Life Saving Club

Life saving club on Mentone beach, established in 1920. Its Nippers beach education program for children aged 5 to 14 runs on Sunday mornings in summer, starting on the first Sunday after Cup Day (U6 and U7 10:30-11:30am, U8 to U13 10:30am-12:00 midday). Sessions cover safety, open water swimming and boarding, reading surf conditions, fitness, first aid and basic life saving skills, and the club supplies the boards. A parent or guardian must be at the beach for the whole session. Carnivals are optional. A Winter Nippers program runs on Saturdays from late May, with monthly sessions at an ocean beach.
