Malabar Beach
Last updated October 2026
Malabar Beach in Long Bay is popular with families because of its normally placid conditions, according to Randwick Council. Cromwell Park behind the beach has a children's playground, public toilets, showers and changerooms. It was the first beach in Sydney with permanent wheelchair access: up to 60 metres of Mobi-mat matting can be rolled out on request to get closer to the water's edge (the mat does not go into the water), which also helps parents with prams. Randwick City Lifeguards patrol from 9am to 5pm in summer; it is unpatrolled at other times. Malabar Ocean Pool is on the southern foreshore. Dogs, alcohol and glass are not permitted on the beach. Within a short walk is Coastal Brasserie Malabar (restaurant, about 90 m).
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
