Mahon Pool

Last updated October 2026

Mahon Pool is a rock pool at the base of Jack Vanny Reserve, just north of Maroubra Beach, built in 1935-1936 on the foundation of a naturally formed seaside rock pool. Steep steps lead down to the pool from a car park on Marine Parade, and there is a toilet block with showers and change rooms on the cliff above. Randwick Council cleans the pool weekly, mostly on Wednesdays, without chemicals; the schedule can change at short notice because of tides and weather, and seaweed and algae can build up after rough conditions. Dogs are prohibited. Randwick lists Mahon Pool as unpatrolled. Within a short walk is Pool Coffee Eatery (about 160 m).

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
