Surf life saving club on Floreat Beach. Its Woodside Nippers program for children aged 5 to 12 runs on Sunday mornings (8:30-11am) from mid-October to the end of March, covering how to handle the surf, sprints, flags, board paddling, swimming and lifesaving skills, plus carnivals. Each Nipper gets a high-vis vest and coloured cap, and the club supplies equipment including boogie boards, soft foam boards and competition boards. A parent or guardian must be on the beach at all times, and families are asked to help with volunteer roles. Starfish Nippers is a modified, inclusive program for young people aged 6 and over with a disability, run alongside the age group program. Teens aged 13-17 can continue in the Youth program.
