Volunteer surf life saving club at Fairy Meadow Beach, just north of Wollongong, which relaunched its Nippers program in 2026. Nippers is for children aged 5-15 to build confidence, make friends and learn surf safety skills in a fun, supportive environment, and is a pathway to the skills needed to become a lifesaver; the club focuses on encouragement and positive experiences. Registration typically opens in September for an October start. A child must be at least 5 years old to register, must complete the preliminary skills evaluation, and at least one parent or caregiver must join the club. Parents are encouraged to help with beach activities, the BBQ, or as age managers or water safety.
