Curtain Fig Tree boardwalk, Curtain Fig National Park

Last updated October 2026

The Curtain Fig National Park, on the outskirts of Yungaburra about 66 km (just over an hour's drive) from Cairns, protects a huge green fig tree whose aerial roots drop 15 m to the forest floor to form a 'curtain'. The Curtain Fig boardwalk is a 180 m circuit (Grade 2, allow 10 minutes) that gently slopes around the tree, with viewing areas over endangered mabi forest where Lumholtz's tree-kangaroos live. The elevated boardwalk has no stairs, though it does not meet the Australian Standard for disability access. Stay on the boardwalk and do not touch stinging trees. There are no toilets at the park; public toilets are in Yungaburra.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
