Small, family-oriented volunteer surf life saving club at Coledale Beach in the northern Illawarra, which also runs a camping reserve. Its Nippers program focuses on beach safety and fun rather than being the fastest or strongest: kids learn how to be safe in and around the water while developing beach skills, including handling a rescue board and paddling past the breaking waves. Nippers meets every second Sunday from 9.45am through the season, with a Christmas party in December and an end-of-season presentation in March. Children must be 5 years of age at 30 September to join, and every junior completes the SLSA preliminary swim evaluation before water activities. Register the child and at least one adult online.
