Tweed Heads & Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club

Last updated October 2026

Tweed Heads & Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club at Greenmount Beach is recognised as the oldest surf life saving club in Queensland, established in 1911, and its Nippers program, founded in 1966, is the oldest in Queensland. The Junior Activities program is for children aged 5 to 13 (Under 6 to Under 14) and runs on Sunday mornings; the 2026-27 season's first Nippers Sunday was 4 October 2026. Nippers learn sun and surf safety, beach sprints and flags, board paddling and swimming, and lifesaving skills such as CPR and water rescues. It is not a learn-to-swim program, so children need basic water competency. At least one parent or guardian joins as a Nipper Parent member. Optional training and competition squads are available for an extra levy.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
