Surf life saving club on Burleigh Beach running a Nippers (junior activities) program for children aged 5 to 13. Nippers are taught sun and surf safety, beach sprints and board paddling, through to lifesaving skills like CPR and water rescues; in their last season the under 14s complete the Surf Rescue Certificate. Sunday morning sessions run 8.30am to 10.30am at Burleigh Beach. The season starts in September, with sign-on days in late August and early September. Children must be able to swim and complete a pool evaluation, and at least one adult must join with each family. Parents help on a roster with beach set-up, the BBQ and pack-up. The club also has a restaurant, sports bar and beach kiosk.
