Currumbin Alley Surf School has run surf lessons at Currumbin Alley since 1993. Its Frothing Grommet school holiday program is five 90-minute sessions, Monday to Friday of each school holidays, for boys and girls aged 5 to 14, split into groups by age. Kids learn surf safety and awareness, stand-up procedures, surf stretches and how to control and manoeuvre the board; experienced kids move on to riding along the wave, turning and duck diving. The Kids 6 Week Surfing Challenge (ages 5 to 14) runs one lesson a week in each school term at three levels. Soft surfboards, wetshirts and wetsuits are supplied. For children under 8 or not strong swimmers, a parent is recommended in the water. Lessons meet at the Currumbin Alley car park.
