Towradgi Surf Life Saving Club

Last updated October 2026

Volunteer surf life saving club on Towradgi Beach, about 5 km north of Wollongong's CBD, founded in 1947. Its Nippers (junior activities) program for children aged 5-13 years educates young children about surf safety and awareness; each year junior lifesavers work on surf skills, board paddling, basic first aid and basic rescue techniques, with beach activities and the chance of inter-club competition. Swimming is not compulsory but is an advantage. Nippers is held every Sunday during summer, usually from October after the school holidays until mid-March. Parents must stay at the beach for the whole session and at least one parent per family should be a member. Nippers wear the club cap and a hi-visibility yellow vest.

Facts checked against the venue's own website on 23 October 2026.
