Port Willunga Beach

Last updated October 2026

Port Willunga Beach is known for its golden cliffs, clear water and soft white sand. The City of Onkaparinga's McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Coast visitor site says the beach almost forms a natural cove, with generally fewer waves than straighter stretches of beach, making the swell safe for little swimmers and good for paddle-boarding and kayaking. Snorkellers and divers swim out to the Star of Greece shipwreck, which is often partly exposed at low tide, and the old jetty pylons and fishermen's caves are along the beach. The Star of Greece restaurant is on the clifftop. Avoid discoloured water after rain. Within a short walk (OpenStreetMap): Star of Greece (restaurant, about 250 m).
