Somerton Beach
Last updated October 2026
Somerton Surf Life Saving Club patrols the beach at Somerton Park between King Street, Hove and Robert Street, Glenelg South. The flags are set up in front of the club at the corner of Repton Road and the Esplanade, and swimmers are asked to swim between them. Patrol days are weekends and public holidays from October to Easter weekend, usually from 12 noon to 5pm, with extra surveillance patrols on public holidays and hot-weather patrols when requested. The City of Holdfast Bay lists an accessible public toilet with a baby change table at the surf club (open 6.30am to 10pm). Avoid discoloured water after rain. Dogs must be on a lead on the beach from 10am to 8pm in daylight saving time. Within a short walk are The Kiosk (about 86 m) and INC Cafe (about 303 m).
Facts checked against the venue's own website on 22 October 2026.
